A Couple Of Things

Going on this weekend, I think as I sit here fasting and reflecting on the past year. First, Kicks Sole Provider in Sunset Junction is having a party this Friday night from eight 'til midnight to introduce a new clothing brand that they are carrying, Insight. 30% off Insight clothing that night, free drinks and gift bags, so this is definitely not to be missed. For some reason they were closed today when Seth and I stopped by to pick something out for Seth to wear to the NYC premiere of The Elephant King on October 17th, though. Maybe they were at Synagogue atoning.

Melissa HaslamAlso this weekend, Saturday night is the inaugural exhibition of the new Cerasoli:LeBasse Gallery, the merging of project:gallery and Lab 101. They will now be in a larger space right across the street from their old location in Culver City. The opening reception features work from Deth P Sun, Mari Inukai and Melissa Haslam [work pictured above]. I definitely want to check this one out. It will be going on from 7 to 10pm. Although I'm not sure about the gallery name, a little hard to remember, but I definitely like the content and the website looks real nice. Anyway, back to fasting and reflecting. Fasting and reflecting. I can't wait for pizza at break fast tonight.

Duke Sucks?

Under Crown Duke Suck t-shirtUnder Crown Duke Sucks t-shirt detail

So says Under Crown with their new (ish) t-shirt [pictured above] available now at Pick Your Shoes. As someone who was born and raised in Durham, North Carolina, had to decide in kindergarten whether I was a Duke or a Carolina fan (I picked Duke because all of the smart kids were Duke fans and this extremely annoying kid who lived in my neighborhood was a huge Carolina fan), has worked at Duke, had Duke pay my college tuition because my mother worked there for 20-some years and that's what they do for valued employees; I think this t-shirt and the whole sentiment of hating Duke is hilarious.

What, people hate Duke because they are good at basketball? Because they win games (and the occasional tournament)? Or do people hate Duke because they are an extremely competitive school with a great academic reputation? Maybe they hate Duke because they have one of the best medical centers in the country and they are jealous? That's a good reason to hate them, right? I know Duke didn't do too well this year in the NCAA tournament, which everyone here in Chapel Hill is loving, but why so much hatred for them outside of North Carolina? I guess people just hate them because Coach K looks like a constipated rat. And that's a great, extremely shallow reason to hate a university. Good job, folks! Now how do I mark this post so people realize I am being sarcastic?

Bring on the comment backlash, bitches!

Yeah, Whatever

Alife Dawn til Dusk t-shirt
Alife Dr. Revolt t-shirt
Alife Voodoo t-shirtSorry about my lackadaisical posting lately. I have been very busy in my non-blog life with a new toy design to be revealed soon, an exhibit of my artwork going up on March 3rd and my birthday on March 6th. So I haven't really had time to post anything. Not to mention, nothing has really sparked my imagination and interest recently. I do like a few of the new Alife Spring t-shirts that were just announced yesterday. My favorites are the Dawn til Dusk [pictured above, top], Dr. Revolt [above, middle] and Voodoo [above, bottom] tees. I like the Dawn til Dusk and Dr. Revolt tees because of the nice landscapes that each of them feature. Each will run ya' only $40 and telephone orders are accepted in NYC at 212-375-8116, in LA at 323-655-2093 or in Vancouver, BC at 604-685-6400, so get yours quickly before they all disappear.

Holy Bouncing Boners Batman!

bonerboner clothing

Today's posts seem to be all about sexual organs. I don't know what's up. Maybe it's just that time of year; everyone is freaking out about what to get friends, family, significant others, etc. for the holidays. That's why I'm glad Hanukkah came early this year. I drove by the mall today and I was sure glad that I didn't need to go in! It looked like a madhouse. Made me horny! Speaking of which, for your online purchasing pleasure, I present Boner Clothing, "indie-casual clothing for the individual". A little redundant, but that never hurt nobody. Boner Clothing features beautifully printed Limited Ed. t-shirts for boys and girls. Boner Clothing's t-shirts come in editions of either 10 or 20 and feature a unique identifying stamp indicating how many were produced. For men, I particularly like the Warthog t-shirt for its prison-stripe aesthetic and the Gasmask tee 'cause I like gas masks (like the ones done by Three-Zero Toys). In the women's t-shirt arena, I like the Street Camel tee and the Spade tee 'cause I like camels and cards. The website is Flash heavy, so I haven't posted pics, but go check it out, I'm sure you will find something you like.

Death, Kill, Kill, Destroy!

Bounty Hunter Skull Zip Up Hoodie
Bounty Hunter Shark Knit Beanie
Span of Sunset has got some sick new Bounty Hunter gear in stock. My favorites are the Skull Zip Up Hoodie and the Shark Knit Beanie [pictured above]. Freakin' awesome! After seeing Toypunks I have a whole new level of respect for BxH. The only problem is their stuff is soooooooooooo expensive. The beanie is $55 and the hoodie is $190, damn!

Tastes Like Strawberries

purple King Stampede Strawberry Cough t-shirtwhite King Stampede Strawberry cough t-shirt
Turntable Lab just got these chillin' King Stampede Strawberry Cough t-shirts [pictured above] in stock. Based on the sticky-icky that Michael Caine's character Jasper was slingin' in Children of Men, you figure these tees would be made of hemp or something, but they appear to be standard cotton. Cop one quick, 'cause it looks like Turntable Lab is the only place you can get 'em right now and they weren't meant to last. In purple or white, $35.

My Favorite Dripper

Krink EZ-Squeeze Markers
Krink K-71 T-shirt
Krink Choices T-shirt
Krink Postal Long Sleeve Tee
Alife got some new Krink markers and t-shirts [pictured above] in stock. I love Krink markers for their drippiness and permanency. I have marked up some dumpsters, buildings and phone booths with them myself. Just kidding, I would never besmirch my community and break the law! I really like the K-71 t-shirt [pictured top], the Choices t-shirt [middle] and the Postal long sleeve tee [bottom]. And my favorite colors are silver, green and purple. The tees are $40 each or $45 for the long sleeve tee. The markers are $10 for the EZ-Squeeze [above] and $8 for the K-71 [not pictured]. You can pick these up at any Alife store and they do accept phone orders.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

Green Monster Asics x Alife Gel Lyte IIIBlack Lagoon Asics x Alife Gel Lyte III

New Limited Ed. Asics x Alife Gel Lyte III "Alife are Monsters" kicks will go on sale this Saturday, October 27th, exclusively at Alife BC, LA and NY. Available in both Green Monster [pictured above, left] and Black Lagoon [above, right], both colors feature a split tongue, removable eyeballs, a printed midsole and custom footbeds. Limited quantities will also be available online at www.alifenyc.com. The matching t-shirts [pictured below] will be available in-store only. The kicks will run ya' 2 bills, but the t's are only 40 beans. These are some pretty sick Halloween swag. I can't decide which I like better. The Green Monsters are amazing, bold and bright while the Black Lagoons have a nice toned-down, late-night vibe. I am a big fan of red laces, so I like that aspect of both sets. I also like the laid-back looking eyeballs that contrast the menacing grin printed on the midsole. If I had the money, I would buy two pairs of each. One set to rock this Halloween; the Green Monsters during the day and the Black Lagoons at night, and one set to put on ice for future trick-or-treating.Alife Eye of the Monster t-shirts

Ladies First

Womens Metallic Converse All StarsI have a ton of toys to report on today, but first, a little something for the ladies. Kicks/Hi has apparently got mad product in the building, including a ton of cool stuff for the ladies. First off, they got these hawt women's Converse Metallic All Star Chucks [pictured above]. Metallic is apparently the new black, so if you are planning on being fashion-forward this Fall, pick up something metallic. Personally, I like knives, so nice and shiny... and sharp. Perfect for Halloween. Kicks/Hi also has a wide variety of new women's Nike sneakers in stock, including the Tweed Internationalists and Black Velvet All Courts [pictured below, left to right]. Not as shiny as the Chucks, but still pretty.Tweed Internationalist and Black Velvet All CourtAnd finally, a little something to outfit the top half, my favorite half, of the ladies: some t-shirts from Made Me [pictured below]. Also, check out Kicks/Hi's online store here for more product that you can get if you don't live in Hawaii.Made Me Shiny and NewMade Me Lips

Charlie Don't Surf

BxH Charlie Don't Surf poloI am trying to make up for the few days that I was absent in NYC for Seth's birthday with tons of posts today. This is my second and I already have two more planned. I got e-mail from Span of Sunset early last week letting me know that they have some new Bounty x Hunter shirts in stock. Several of them are based on one of my favorite movies, Apocalypse Now. My favorite is the BxH "Charlie Don't Surf" Apocalypse polo [pictured above]. It is a little expensive at $91, but Bounty x Hunter stuff is extremely hard to come by, so some people might consider it worth the money. Personally, I would prefer a nice meal at Momofuku Ssäm Bar on 2nd Ave. and 13th St. in NYC. Delicious!

Is Winter Here Already?

Alife TimsAlife Tims
I woke up this morning freezin' my balls off. It wasn't really that cold, 68 degrees in my apartment, but I had left my windows open last night because it was so nice out and so Kallie could come in and out, and there was a chilly wind that gave me a little bit of a sniffle this morning.

It seems that Alife has decided it is cold enough to announce some winter weather gear already. They have collaborated with Timberland on some new Limited Ed. Wheat Work Boots [pictured above]. I have never really been a big fan of Timberland or their work boots. Personally, I prefer a nice pair of Vasque Sundowners. They are better constructed and last longer. Of course, they don't have the Alife stamp of approval to make them so much more valuable. The Tims will be available starting this Saturday, September 22nd at 11am exclusively at Alife stores for $200.

Alife also has some puffy Penfield Walkabout jackets [pictured below, left] with matching stuff sacks [pictured below, right] that will be available exclusively at the Rivington Club starting on Saturday. If I didn't already have a puffy winter jacket I might be tempted to get the black one when I am up in NYC this weekend, but I'm not really feeling the red or purple version. The ladies may feel different about the purple version, but you gotta' be a special kind of freak to rock that shiny red puffy jacket. Also, I can't really afford $250 for a new winter coat right now. Maybe in a few months when it really starts getting cold. Of course, by then these will be gone.

Death Warmed Over

Eagle vs. Shark t-shirt design winnerEagle vs. Shark t-shirt design winner
Uuggghhhh... I feel like crap. I have had a summer flu since Friday. Summer is not a good time to be sick. It is too freakin' hot outside to be sick. I had to go to a wedding on Saturday, which would have been a lot of fun, but I just felt like shit the whole time. Well, now I am back at work and I have a ton of stuff to do, so I will keep this short. Why didn't anyone tell me that Threadless was having a t-shirt design contest for the movie Eagle vs. Shark, a movie that my brother's production company, Unison Films, produced? I like the winning design [pictured above], but shit! If I had known there was a contest going on I would have designed a shirt that didn't look exactly like every other shirt on Threadless (I guess 12-year-olds all have the same taste). Anyway, I am going to go home and pass out now. Go see Eagle vs. Shark so my brother will have money to produce his next movie.

Land Shark, Ma'am

TigerSharks t-shirt
TigerSharks t-shirt
TigerSharks cap
TigerSharks cap
TigerSharks capI got e-mail from KICKS/HI this beautiful morning informing me of their new official All-State Champion team, the "TigerSharks". In order to clothe the team, they have created a "TigerSharks" New Era cap and matching t-shirt. The caps are either black with green or black with red accents and the t-shirts are black, white and green [pictured above]. The caps are lined in satin in their respective accent color, as you can see from the bottom picture. The caps and t-shirts will be available at both KICKS/HI in Hawaii and Saint Alfred in Chicago starting this Saturday, August 4. They will be available for phone orders starting on Monday, August 6. Check the websites for digits. I dig this "TigerSharks" gear, it reminds me of a mix between the land shark from SNL back in the early days and the Le Tigre logo, with a little of the old ultra-violence thrown in for good measure.

The Limited Ed. t-shirts are dedicated to Berlin Rock, Electro, Jazz and Minimalism [pictured above, left to right] and are available in both men's and women's sizes. You can purchase them here for $29 a piece. Collect all four and conquer the world just like the Germans! Awesome.

Neckface Sold Out!

Neckface x aNYthing capThere's a new Limited Ed. aNYthing x Neckface cap [pictured above] available at Sold Out! Seems appropriate, n'est pas? Anyway, this cap features Neckface's interpretation of the aNYthing logo on the foam front and what appears to be woven zig-zag pattern material on the back, trucker style.

Now, I live in North Carolina, where people don't wear trucker caps for their ironic sensibilities, but instead because they really are truckers! So it has always seemed a little strange to me to see people wear trucker caps who live in Williamsburg or LA (Ashton Kutcher). I never really understood the appeal. Who wants to be a disgusting, dirty, fat, all-day-ass-sitting, hitchhiker-molesting, Republican-loving truck driver?

I don't wear hats, but if I did, they wouldn't be trucker caps. How about making something fashionable like the fedora popular again? How about going back to the days when men wore suits and flashy hats and looked good like film noir stars instead of dressing like homeless people? Maybe if you weren't covered in ugly-ass tattoos up to your neck and dressed like a homeless person normal people wouldn't spit on you so much, you hipster asshole! I'm sorry about that, you know I love you. And I do like the colors of the cap, they match my blog!
