Doo Doo Bramaged Vain

Super7 has got the new Secret Base Voodoo Damaged Brain coming this Friday, June 13th! Friday the 13th for a Voodoo doll. That makes sense. This is the third in a set of six Voodoo versions of Secret Base's popular figures that will be released this year. A secret seventh version will be available to those who purchased the other six. That's $65 times six or $390 to get the secret seventh Voodoo figure! Ridiculous! This is why I am not buying toys anymore. Well, that and $4 a gallon gas and that I am moving to Los Angeles in August.

Hello Balzac

Balzac x Hello Kitty t-shirtBalzac x Hello Kitty t-shirt
Secret Base has a couple of new Balzac t-shirts [pictured above] in stock featuring everybody's favorite Hello Kitty! This has got to be one of the best Hello Kitty colabs I have ever seen. Hello Kitty looks bad-ass moon-stomping in a Balzac skeleton jumpsuit. Shock and Horror indeed! They can be ordered directly from Secret Base for only ¥5145 or about $49.95 American. Cheap!

Sharkman!

New Sharkman figure and Henshin Cyborg costume available now from Secret Base for e-mail ordering for ¥5040 or about $50. Sweet.

Update: It is only the Sharkman figure that is available, not the costume for the Henshin Cyborg. Apparently, that was sold last year by Medicom.

New Balls

Night Shadow Mad MantisNight Shadow Mad Mantis
Secret Base has released a new Night Shadow Mad Mantis figure [pictured above] that freakin' glows in the dark! It is pretty sweet, and only ¥4725 or $43.88! Cheap for a Secret Base figure. My guess is you can order them direct from SB by sending an e-mail to info@secret-b.com like it says on the website, since their new Tokyo store hasn't opened yet. They are available at Toy Tokyo and probably Super7 soon, but are not as cheap as ordering direct from SB.

Death Pumpkin

Twim x Secret Base Death PumpkinSecret Base, in association with Twim, has released a new Limited Ed. Pumpkin Brain vinyl figure [pictured above and lit up below]. This "Death Pumpkin" is exactly like the Last Legend Pumpkin Brain that was released for Halloween, except that instead of glowing orange, this one is glowing slime green. Both contain a set of LEDs that light up when you shake 'em. I really like the slime green color of this figure, but I already have the orange Last Legend Pumpkin, so do I need another light-up, glowing Pumpkin Brain? The answer, of course, is yes! Alright, maybe not, but it is still pretty darn cool looking. Available now at both Span of Sunset and Toy Tokyo for around sixty bucks. Maybe while I am up in New York next week I will stop by Toy Tokyo and pick one up. We'll see. I guess it depends on how much it costs for me to get my car fixed this week.Twim x Secret Base Death Pumpkin

Trick Or Treat

Secret Base has announced their second Halloween release for the year after the blinking, glow-in-the-dark, Last Legend Pumpkin Brain. It looks to be a glow-in-the-dark multi-character pack that contains all of SB's head, body and arm sculpts: the Skull Brain, Damaged Brain, Pumpkin Brain, Balzac head and bag, Obake Ghost body and both arm sculpt styles [pictured above]. This thing is ridiculous and is only available through SB for Japan orders for ¥7875 and soon (hopefully) through Toy Tokyo for American orders. I don't know about the rest of the world. Anyway, that's all the news for today. Now I have to leave for a wedding in Asheville!

Pink Is The New Clear

SB FC FrankenghostSB FC Ghostfighter
One of my favorite online toy stores and print magazines and probably my favorite place for Neo-Kaiju, Super 7, has just gotten in the new Secret Base Fan Club Frankenghost [pictured above, left] and Ghostfighter [above, right]. These are two of my favorite Secret Base sculpts, and I love the Inner Demons ghost-sheets plushies inside the soft, soft vinyl. So delicious... Anyway, each is available for $65 until they run out, which will probably happen quickly 'cause these guys don't come around often. Personally, I am not a huge fan of the pink and yellow colorway, but I'm sure there are some girly toy collectors (or girl toy collectors, if there is such a thing) out there who would just eat these guys up. Alright, so I am a little girly. I am a giant, hairy, bearded girl. Take that, society!

Son Of A...

Super7 x Secret Base Inner Demons FrankenghostBITCH!!! Alright, I know I don't ask for much, but if any of my readers are out in San Francisco this weekend, please, please, please stop by the Super 7 Store this Saturday, September 1st at 11:00am and pick me up a Limited Ed. Super 7 x Secret Base Inner Demons Frankenghost [pictured above]. I will reimburse you for the figure, shipping and anything else your heart desires (within certain financial limitations). The figure will run ya' $65 and will probably sell out within a few minutes. I'd say 15 at the most. It is not often that a toy like this one comes around, so I'm sure there won't be any leftovers to go on the online store, unfortunately. Well, there's always ebay, suckas.

Update: Inner Demons Frankenghost is now available for purchase from Super7 here.

New SxB x BxH Skull Kun DX

Secret Base has new pictures on their website of what appears to be a new Limited Ed. spike-helmeted Skull Kun DX figure and t-shirt set [pictured above] in collaboration with Bounty Hunter soon to be available. The Skull Kun is one of the coolest Japanese vinyl figures ever made! Previous renditions of the figure are extremely rare and run up to $300 on ebay. Unfortunately, I am not too infatuated with Secret Base's new Flash website because I can't use really bad machine translation to find out what the Japanese says. If someone out there who reads my site can also read Japanese, please translate for me so I can present the information to the rest of my readers. I can, however, read that the set will cost ya' ¥16,590 or $142.59. That's expensive, but these Secret Base Skull Kuns don't come around often.

Update: I inquired already and they are all sold out in Japan.

Not Dead Yet

SB Chrome All StarzI'm not dead yet, so I will write one more post. It appears that Span of Sunset has the Limited Ed. Secret Base Chrome All Starz available for purchase. These guys are pretty damn sweet, but will run ya' $75 each. If you are rich and can afford to buy the whole set of six, then you will save $30, what a bargain! The set includes the SB Skull Bee, Skull Brain, Skull Mantis, Damage Brain, Pumpkin Head, and Barbarian. The pictures aren't that good, but if you are familiar with Secret Base then I'm sure you know what they look like. Now I am going to go puke and pass out.

Redesigned Secret Base Website

Balzac Rude Boys TiesBalzac Braces
Secret Base has redesigned their website overnight. I haven't had a chance to fully investigate yet, but so far it looks tight. It looks like it is still a little under construction, but they appear to be adding a section for ordering merch from their website. Dangerous! I love the Balzac apparel they have featured, especially the Rude Boys ties and Dementia Thirteen, Grotesque Terror braces [picuted above, left to right]. They remind me of my hardcore punk rock days of the late 80's. There are also some really nice pictures in the Gallery section.

Zipface At Toy Tokyo

White Secret Base Zipface ObakedogBlack G.I.D. Secret Base Zipface Obakedog
Toy Tokyo has both the white and black (glow-in-the-dark) versions of the Secret Base Zipface Obakedog figure by Takeshit [pictured above] available now for purchase. They will run ya' a penny less than eighty bucks each. This is definitely my favorite Secret Base Obakedog figure. Now I just need eighty bucks. Just kidding, no more toys for me. I have been a bad boy. Did I say bad? I meant broke.

Update: the Zipface Obakedogs are also now available at Span of Sunset.

Many Knew Secret Base

Pink Skull PirateAlright, I am starting to get my Engrish down! I got a few new Secret Base items to report on. First up, apparently one of the members of the Secret Base crew had a baby girl and to celebrate they have released a Limited Ed. clear pink version of their Skull Pirate figure [pictured above]. The figure apparently comes with a bib and is available at Secret Base in Tokyo for ¥8,800 plus tax.2007 Fan Club Skull BeeThere are also two new Secret Base figures available at Toy Tokyo today. They have the new Secret Base 2007 Fan Club Skull Bee [pictured above] available for just under sixty bucks and the new Secret Base Mummy Obakedog [pictured below] available for a hair under eighty-five bucks (whew, that's a little pricey!).Mummy ObakedogUpdate: One of my other favorite online toy stores, Span of Sunset also has the Mummy Obakedog available here and has the Monday Rainy Day Water Skull D-Brain available here and pictured below (it is also available at Super7 here).Monday Rainy Day Water Skull D-Brain

Get Fat Milk Open

Get Fat Milk Open
Get Fat Milk OpenYeah, your guess is as good as mine. If anyone out there can read Japanese and translate the text in the top picture for me, I would appreciate it. Something about various drip paint colorways of Secret Base Skull Brains for Get Fat Milk or something. I don't know. According to the machine translation of the Get Fat Milk website, these hand-painted by Hiddy of Secret Base Skull Brains will be available for the opening of Get Fat Milk on July 15th at midnight somewhere in Japan or maybe just on their website. I can't tell. Your guess is probably better than mine!

Update: Get Fat Milk is now open and has Secret Base Skull Brains hand-painted by Hiddy of Secret Base available for sale here for ¥6,900.

Further Update: the Skull Brains are already sold out.

Too Many Toys!

Alright, I am going to make this one short and sweet because it will contain so much information. First off, Secret Base has a couple of important new news items. They will apparently be releasing some shiny new silver mini-figures soon. No release date, just a price, ¥5040, and pictures [below].Silver Secret Base All-StarzSecret Base has also announced some other new mini-figures, although they aren't on their website, they are on Toybot Studios. Below is the flier that TBS has on their website. Apparently, they will be out in early July for $30 for a case of 12 and supposedly if you collect all of the different variations you will be given the opportunity to purchase 12" Skullbee.Secret Base mini-figuresNext up, Kidrobot has finally put the new Huck Gee Geisha and Shogun Dunnys [pictured below, left to right] up on their website. They aren't available just yet, but they are super cool to drool over.

Geisha Dunny   Shogun Dunny

And lastly, but not leastly, Ningyoushi has the new Hot Toys Star Wars chubby figures, which were inspired by Russian matryoshka nesting dolls. The first series includes six figures which depict Darth Vader, Obi-wan Kenobi, C-3PO, SITH, General Grevious, and Wookiees [pictured below].Star Wars Chubby Series 1

Zipface

Secret Base x Take-Shit ZipfaceAbout a week ago (maybe more, I can't keep track of time) Secret Base posted a mysterious image of a new Secret Base x Take-Shit collaboration titled Zipface. There wasn't a lot of information in English, and I don't read Japanese, so I was puzzled and intrigued. Well, today Secret Base has revealed pictures of this new project. The Secret Base x Take-Shit Zipface figure is a new take on Secret Base's Obake Dog figure with a Take-Shit designed partially decomposed skull-face. The figure appears to be wearing a straitjacket and comes with what looks like a white body bag with a Take-Shit button on it. I'm not a huge fan of Secret Base's Obake Dog figures, I prefer Skull Brains and Skull Wings, really anything with a skull on it, which is probably why I actually like the Zipface figure. It has an Obake Dog body, but a skull face, which is always cool in my book (the manual, the police manual!). Zipface will run ya' ¥6300 when it hits stores and I will let y'all know as soon as it does on this side of the ocean.

Secret Cola Flava'

C-Skull BrainSecret Base has just unveiled a new product-themed Skull Brain figure, this one based on the Coca-Cola logo. I don't have availability info yet, but it looks like it is going to run ¥6300. It comes with a Coca-Cola themed Secret Base bandana. Looks pretty cool.

Update: C-Brain is now available here at Super 7 and here at Toy Tokyo for seventy bucks.

New Secret Base Mummy!

Secret Base Black and Pink MummySecret Base has a new version of their mummy figure, a black and pink variant, available now. You can pick one up while they last here, at Toy Tokyo (also available at Super 7). I WANT ONE!!! Maybe when I go up to NYC next month I can save enough money to go to Toy Tokyo and get one. And one for Anne as well. I know she likes pink and black.

Check check it out: the Beastie Boys website has been updated and is better than ever. They have a couple of videos of new songs off of their upcoming album, The Mix-Up and some other fun stuff to explore.
