Dog Save The Queen

Canis Servo ReginaThis week is the Queen of England's birthday, and in honor of this magnanimous occasion Pictures on Walls has a new Limited Ed. print by graffiti artist D*Face entitled Canis Servo Regina or Dog Save the Queen in good ol' American speak [pictured above]. I must admit that I enjoy this print, even though I am not a citizen of England and really have nothing against their Queen. I'm sure if I lived there than this image would have more meaning for me. As it is, I just find it entertaining and amusing. The print is limited to only 80 copies and will run you £80. Not a bad deal for a signed and limited print. Happy birthday, Queenie!

I Scream For Ice Cream!

Reebok, Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes and N.E.R.D. and Nigo of A Bathing Ape fame dropped these new Ice Cream Board Flip sneakers at the end of March without me even hearing about it! Shame on everyone for not mentioning these to me. Just look at that delicious suede. And I love how the soles look like chocolate ice cream sugar cones. I guess these are meant to be more consumer-aimed sneakers, as opposed to the other more collector-aimed Ice Creams, with a price of just under ninety bucks. They remind me of some ol' skool Adidas Samoas but without the three stripes. I really like the green and pink ones [pictured above]. I like these Ice Creams much better than the ones with the little pictures adorning them. They seem much more versatile. And for the price you could actually wear them outside. Now I just need another job to pay for all of the sneakers I want and another apartment to store them all in. Hey all of you sneaker companies out there, how about sending me some samples to review?! I'll take nice pictures and say wonderful things about you and your shoes, if I like them that is.

Fishy, Fishy, Fishy

Jeremy Fish Classic SBFreshness has got a link to the freshness, these Jeremy Fish designed Nike Air Classic SB's, over at Kix-Files. These things are beautiful, with their laser cut flower patterns in mocha velour, a laser technique that I haven't seen before, and a fat pink bunny swallowing a skull on the heel tab. The insole also features artwork by Mr. Fish and the tongue tag states clearly that these are "Fish Classic SB". I like the pink, brown and mustard yellow color combination. Very appropriate for spring, even though the expected release date is May at the earliest and September at the latest. I'm sure these will sell out quickly and only be available at strategic locations, so keep your eyes peeled for more info.

Super Tired

It sure has been a loooooong weekend. It seems like my weekend began last Wednesday night, with the start of Passover, even though I still had to work on Thursday and Friday. My brother, his girlfriend, my sister, and both of our cousins were in town to celebrate Passover. All told, we had fourteen people for the first Seder Wednesday night and ten people for the second Seder (not really a Seder, just a Kosher for Passover meal with the best damn barbecue brisket I have ever eaten) Thursday night. Wednesday night I got rip-roaringly drunk (you have to drink at least four glasses of wine as part of the Passover Seder, depending on which Rabbi's interpretation you follow (in my family we play a Passover drinking game where if you make a mistake reading the Haggadah you have to drink, so it usually adds up to well over four glasses of wine)) and almost didn't make it into work Thursday morning. Thursday night I didn't drink nearly as much, but still had a hard time getting up at 7:00am Friday morning. Then Friday night I was hit with the three "B's": bouillabaisse, bowling and binge drinking! Many brave brain cells were lost in the struggle, but I did manage to look especially suave and handsome in the pictures from that night, like this one for example. Saturday night it was off to Drew and Misty's new house out in the country for Frogmore stew, banana pudding and more drinking, this time with high gravity beer. Then on to The Reservoir to celebrate my sister Leia and the bar owner Mike's birthdays. I prefer The Reservoir when it is less crowded, loud, smoky, and disgustingly humid, but that doesn't happen often. Sunday meant brunch at the 'rent's for Leia's birthday, an afternoon crying in pain on my sofa, a wonderful and delicious Easter dinner at Anne's house, and Sunday night at Ryan and Mary's house working on a t-shirt design for the Duke University Bone Marrow Clinic's annual fundraiser. So there's the explanation of why I am super tired today. Now what y'all really came here for: TOYS!

Fatima vinyl figure by Sam FloresNingyoushi has the new Limited Ed. Fatima vinyl figures by Sam Flores (as reported about in the most recent issue of Juxtapoz) in stock in either pink [pictured above] or green. These "ominously beautiful" female figures are limited to only 450 pieces of each colorway and stand eight inches tall. Cute, but not really my style. I prefer the new Limited Ed. Orus vinyl figures by the excellent graffiti artist Mist. This is Mist's third figure and is a tribute to graffiti artist Orus. Ningyoushi has the pink and black [pictured below] versions available. Each colorway is limited to only 300 pieces and is twelve inches tall (just like my pianist). Pretty sweet! Now back to work. Then sleep.Orus vinyl figure by MistHappy 11 month anniversary Anne, and happy belated two year anniversary for this here Limited Ed. Magazine blog.

Stickers

Assault! Design StickersWhen walking through SOHO in New York or any other artsy district in any major metropolitan city, I always notice the abundance of assorted stickers representing a kaleidoscope of corporate logos, graffiti, clothing companies, etc. I remember seeing tons of Alife stickers for blocks around their Rivington Club location. Well, now Assault! Design has gotten into the act with stickers of their own. Following up on their wildly popular series of button badges (I have three on my jean jacket), Assault! has produced these beautiful stickers [pictured above]. Unfortunately, you can't buy the stickers separately, but a couple will be included along with future orders. I can't wait to start seeing these crop up on all of the telephone and light posts, trash cans, newspaper machines, etc. in an urban center near me soon. Also, check out the cool illustration that graces the splash page on Assault! Design's website. I would like a sticker of that. Reminds me of the times I spent criss-crossing the country holding up savings and loans. Good times, good times.

Spastic For Plastic

Tokyoplastic Flower PrintsI got e-mail today from My Platic Heart informing me that they have just gotten the new, exclusive, Limited Ed. Flower Print Set by Tokyoplastic in stock. This set of two beautiful computer-generated lithographic prints are presented on Ideal Premier Silk Acid Free 300 gsm card stock and printed with a Heidleburg Speed Master 74 five color press using safe inks. The prints are limited to an edition of only 1000 and are available for an affordable $34.99 for both prints. The prints were taken from work Tokyoplastic recently did for MTV. The bio-mechanical images are not very subtle, resembling a big ol' ruby-red starfruit, but their soft focus and good lighting give them a certain beauty. They remind me of some of the work of Masamune Shiro, one of my favorite Manga artists.

The Circus Is Coming

Circus PosterusThe Circus Posterus, that is. Next Friday, April 14th, Wootini will be hosting the opening reception for an exhibition by Circus Posterus, a collection of artist that includes the four contributers to the show: Kathie Olivas, Brandt Peters, Rob Schwager, and Brandon Dunlap. The show starts at 7:00pm and will include refreshments and music provided by Uzi and the rest of the Family. Also, Billy Sugarfix of the band Evil Weiner and Brian Risk have just recorded a new song entitled It's Carrboro that includes lyrics about Wootini, such as:
Wootini got a lot of funky toyz
If you disrespect you betta bring ya boyz
You know you gonna check my stance, my poize
C’mon Carrboro, let’s make some noize!
They plan on shooting part of the video for the song at Wootini. Possibly, according to my inside source, at the opening next Friday. So everyone get your finest gear on and check out the Circus Posterus and the rest of the mayhem that will surely ensue. And you know my name is Ed, stop calling me Shirley.

Boot To The Head

Boot CampJust what I need right now to get out of my funk; a good boot to the head! I could also use a thousand dollars in non-consecutive unmarked bills. Yeah, like that would ever happen. Anyway, as I was saying, boot to the head. Or at least to the Intel-powered Mac. Apparently, Apple has gone and one-upped hackers Narf and Blanka by officially releasing a public beta boot patch appropriately called Boot Camp for running Micro$oft Windows XP on the new Intel Macs. I love how Apple has totally dissed Micro$oft on their website for Boot Camp. Here's an example:
Macs use an ultra-modern industry standard technology called EFI to handle booting. Sadly, Windows XP, and even the upcoming Vista, are stuck in the 1980s with old-fashioned BIOS. But with Boot Camp, the Mac can operate smoothly in both centuries.

Windows running on a Mac is like Windows running on a PC. That means it’ll be subject to the same attacks that plague the Windows world. So be sure to keep it updated with the latest Microsoft Windows security fixes.
Damn! What a dis! What could be worse than being called out for being stuck in the 1980s? Micro$oft better grab their parachute pants, a boombox and some cardboard and get ready for some serious breaking! I remember Windows 3.0 in the 1980s. What a terrible operating system. I preferred using DOS to Windows back then. With Boot Camp and Windows XP installed, you can hold down the option key while starting your Mac and choose which operating system you would like to use. This is revolutionary! This will change the computer industry forever! This makes me want an Intel Mac even more than I did before! Maybe while trying to fix my iBook someone over at Mac repairs will slip an Intel processor into that bad boy for me. But probably not. Oh well, at least I have my health.

Spring Has Sprung

*Boing!*

Sorry for no post yesterday (or Friday, I was at a seminar on "Dealing with Difficult People" for work). I was feeling a little blue yesterday due to certain situations in my life (like my computer not working). Luckily, I took my 'puter over to the Mac store last night and found out that, even though my computer is about five years old, apparently G3 iBooks have a logic board problem that is inherent in the system that often causes them to freeze-up and causes the screen to go blank, so I won't have to pay for the repairs. Yippee! I was so excited that my computer will soon be fixed and hopefully better than ever that I almost crapped my pants. Now if I could just get everything else in my life to work itself out as easily I would be the happiest man alive.

Misfits Vinyl

Anyway, spring is upon us, literally squashing us with its fat butt, and that means spring cleaning sales. I already mentioned the short-lived spring cleaning sale at My Plastic Heart. Well, it seems like Kidrobot is following suit with a spring cleaning sale of their own. Who will be next? Ningyoushi? Action HQ? One can only speculate. I'm not sure how long the Kidrobot spring cleaning sale will last; until the toys are gone? But hopefully it will be longer than the two-day sale at My Plastic Heart. Some of the great buys at Kidrobot include a small Futura U.N.K.L.E. Plush for just $39.95 and Misfits Zombie Fiend Vinyl Figure for just $34.95 [pictured, right]. What great deals! Get them while they are warm some days, cold others and raining a lot, just like spring (that makes absolutely no sense)!
