Boot To The Head!

Doc Martens, one of my favorite shoe manufacturers, but unfortunately not a brand that I have worn in some time, is having a little design contest. I have designed a couple of boots just for fun in my spare time. Eventually, I might do a serious one that I actually sit down and work out. Until then, enjoy these two. If you like them, how about a vote?

I Love Gold!

Golden Week 2008 WatchesWell, not really, I am more of a titanium and chrome man. But that doesn't mean some of you, my fine, intellectual readers might not want a shiny new gold wristwatch. Like one of those pictured above from Tokyoflash in honor of Golden Week 2008 (A collection of four Japanese national holidays within seven days, April 29, May 3-6). My favorite is the Pimpin' ain't Easy watch, 'cause, you know, it ain't. Now we'll all be taking golden showers. What, what did I say?Golden Week GiveawayAnyway, Tokyoflash is giving you the chance to win one of three great prizes with every order placed during Golden Week. All you have to do is place an order between April 25th and May 7th 2008 for the chance to win. Click here for more info.

Poopdeck

Allen Spector's Popdeck Skateboard DesignMy good friend Allen Spector is competing in the Popdeck x Cool Hunting skateboard design contest, and he asked me to give him a shout-out so he could get some more votes on his board. As far as I know, Allen is still skating and has been since back in the day when we were in high school together. It has probably been that long since I have been out skating with him, and that was fifteen years ago! I haven't been out in a several months, not since last fall when we were filming Dave Nabisco for a part in the documentary about the making of Rainy Storm II: Thunderstruck. I only had my old skool Tony Hawk signature model from 1989 with me, so no fancy tricks or aerial maneuvers were performed at the time. I miss skating, and this deck reminds me of that. And to brush my teeth, wash my face, clip my nails, shave, and brush my hair. Damn my OCD! What's the lighter for, though? Anyway, go vote for Allen and hopefully he will win the competition and all of the fame and fortune that goes along with it. Now I can't wait until spring so I can strap on my pads again and get back on my board!

Shiitake Sighting

I just got back to work from my trip to New York for my bro's birthday celebration. It was a wild and crazy New York City apartment party with way too many people (all of whom were wealthy and beautiful) squeezed into a way too small apartment with crappy air-conditioning. Everyone tried to hang out on the balcony because that was literally the coolest place to be. The cops showed up at around 11:30pm to tell us to be quiet, which we did for about five minutes. Then we were kicked out at 1:30am after too many of the neighbors complained about the noise. So we went to a bar around the corner which we took over until 3:00am. The balcony of my brother's apartment faces the back of the Chelsea Hotel, and it was Saturday night, so I figured the noise wouldn't be a problem, but apparently not everyone appreciates a good NYC apartment party. Oh well, it was fun anyway.

Boxer ShroomAlright, now on to the Shiitake Sighting contest 1st prize: the World Champ Boxer Shroom [pictured above]. "Boxer Shroom doesn't speak too much with his mouth but says a lot with his gloves. He always gives the competition a fat lip!" This toy is not available in stores. The only way you can get him is through the Shiitakes Sightings contest! The deadline is October 1st, so get your entries in quick.

Mini Munny Mobile Design Contest

Mini Munny Mobile Design ContestIn honor of the release of their new toy, Kidrobot is holding a contest to design the hottest DIY Mini Munny Mobile around. The grand prize is a $500 Kidrobot gift certificate. Entries will be judged in seven categories: hottest hot rod, classiest classic, best detail, best concept, best driver, best in show, and judges choice. Now here's a design contest that is right up my alley! Anyone who knows me knows I love cars. Especially hot rods and muscle cars. I'm not wealthy or fortunate enough to own one, but that doesn't mean I can't draw and design them (or watch endless shows about them on The Learning Channel). Just check out the '32 Ford Model A Rat Rod that I drew for this film festival poster. Unfortunately, I am also not wealthy enough to buy one of the Mini Munny Mobiles to participate in the design contest. However, I am willing to make this offer to the three people who actually read my website: if you buy me the Mini Munny Mobile and I win one of the contest categories, I will split the prize with you and I will give the winning entry design to you. Even if I don't win and you like the design that I create, I will give it to you. That's right, you will own an actual piece of art created by yours truly, Limited Ed. a.k.a. Alec Grossman. Come on, I know someone out there is willing to donate $39.95 to help me make my dream of being an automotive toy designer come true. Entry deadline is July 20th, so get started everybody!
