HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOTTY G!

Today is my cousin Scott's birthday! Yeah! He is one of the four or five people who read my blog on a regular basis, so he gets a special post in honor of his birthday. Also, in honor of his birthday, he will be receiving a sweet-ass pair of Limited Ed. Adidas Superstar Jam Master Jay kicks [pictured above]! Freakin' awesome! I'm not sure if Scott is a big Run DMC fan, but if he isn't, he should be, 'cause he grew up in NYC and Run DMC are the kings of New York! Anyway, happy birthday Scott!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEIA!!!

LeiaHey Leia, sorry I haven't gone on a scavenger hunt for things that you would like on the internet in honor of your birthday yet, but I have been super busy at work with the new scheduling/billing system we have just implemented. As soon as I have a little time, this space will be filled with all kinds of cool stuff that I'm sure you will like (or stuff that I like that I think you might like also). Anyway, until then, just know that you are in my thoughts and prayers, and I will see you tomorrow night.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKE LUCAS!!!

Mike's Birthday PumasAnd not this Mike Lucas the gay porn star, but this Michael Lucas the short film auteur who directed such classic masterpieces as South Fork and Sustenance and has worked with David Gordon Green, the well-known and acclaimed director of Pineapple Express and All the Real Girls. Mike is a huge vinyl junkie (his vinyl weighs a ton, I know, it is being stored at my apartment right now) and Puma aficionado, so in honor of his b-day, here are some prime cuts from Madlib - Blunted In The Bomb Shelter. According to Turntable Lab:
Madlib - Blunted In The Bomb ShelterBefore there was Greensleeves or Virgin, Trojan held a firm lock on the British [Reggae] scene, releasing nearly all the important titles from the mid-60's through mid-70's. Madlib takes full run of their catalogue straight through the 80's, with a particular hankerin' for tunes in the following order: drums, stoner deluxe dubs, comedy and songs which in any way make mention of herb. Dunno if he had previous knowledge of reggae or if he just jumped into a couple stacks, but Madlib's ear lead him to a balanced attack of well-loved stuff (but nothing really saccharine), rarities, tough dubs and a lot of interesting tracks that regular reggae heads might pass over. The mixing is close to official reggae style, every song given about a minute playtime without much traditional mixing going on- most times he just effects his way between tunes dropping and dubbing vocal intros.
And I have designed a pair of sick Puma Baskets [pictured above] in Mike's honor. I picked the camo pattern because I remember Mike in the summer, always wearing his cut off camo pants, Puma t-shirt and his blue and yellow Pumas. You still rockin' that outfit, Mike? Anyway, happy birthday, buddy. Keep making those crazy films!

Toys, Toys, Toys!

Fulcraim Apple Red
Layered GID Magman
Himalan Glacier Figure
Well, tomorrow is my birthday, and of course I am sick. Isn't that just always the way it works? I take two days off for my birthday and I get sick. At least getting presents will make me feel a little better. And I am going to Thai Cafe for dinner tomorrow night, so I will have some nice Tom Kha Goong (coconut milk soup with shrimp) to soothe my throat. Until then, I will dream about toys, toys, toys from My Plastic Heart.

They have some new ones in stock that are pretty sweet! I especially like the new Limited Ed. Fulcraim: Apple Red version [pictured above, top, $99.99], Touma's Layered Glow-in-the-Dark Magman [pictured above, middle, $79.99] and Itokin Park's Himalan Glacier [pictured above, bottom, $79.99]. These are some of the coolest figures to be released recently, and they are all currently available, until they sell out, of course. Now I am going to go take some more vitamin C, Echinacea, Zinc, and Advil. Uggghhhhh...

Seth's Birthday!

Air Force 1 SoCal Air Force 1 SoCal Air Force 1 SoCal
Well, it's Seth's birthday again! Another year older and another year sleazier! Make sure you check out his hilarious fantasy football webisodes of The Fantastic Two in honor of his birth... and for McDonald's. I have scoured the internets in search of the perfect presents for Seth for his birthday. I have already gotten him something, but in case any of his other friends read this blog and don't know what to get for him, here are some suggestions. First, we gotta' find Seth a dope pair of kicks. I would suggest the Nike Air Force 1 '07 Low Premium "SoCal Edition" sneakers [pictured above] available at Pick Your Shoes, 'cause Seth is living bi-coastal in New York and LA (SoCal), but I don't think he would rock the pink floral shoes. Instead, for Seth, I am feeling the Puma x Yo! MTV Raps Suede V kicks [pictured below, left]. Seth worked for MTV for a little while, so these are appropriate. And I dig the light blue and heather gray color scheme. Very NC collegiate.
Puma x Yo! MTV Raps Suede V Top of the World UNC Cap
To go along with Seth's new kicks, he is going to need a phat cap. The Top of the World NC Tar Heels Gray Elite 1-Fit Hat [pictured above, right] would do the trick, if the trick you are looking for is matching those kicks. Seth isn't really that big of a UNC fan though, or even a sports fan for that matter, so maybe something less sportsy would be more appropriate for him. I will keep these in mind when Scott's birthday rolls around again, though. Well, there's always a cool t-shirt, toy or watch for Seth. Except that I've already gotten him each of those things for his previous birthdays. I guess it is a good thing I have already gotten him a present this year.
